Jesse Wood: Artist / Printer
I am a painter and a lithographer, focusing my attention for the past 20 years towards landscape and still life canvases. I began printmaking as a teenager and remained self-taught until attending art school as an adult. Since then I have followed lithography with serious attention and learned a great deal about the techniques required for this laborious and collaborative process. My painting has taken a backseat since I began studying at Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, where the focus is solely on helping artists understand the language of printmaking. Never the less, I have managed to produce some lithographs and prints which I may say are my own fledgling attempts at expression. A large part of my print portfolio addresses issues that I have faced before and after becoming a father, specifically around my relationship to my young son and the prospect of being a single parent.
